More than a thousand employees from the world’s leading artificial intelligence companies have signed a petition urging the United States government to deliberately slow the advancement of the technology .
The document, titled “Pacing the Frontier,” gathers signatures from prominent figures at OpenAI , Anthropic , Google DeepMind , and Meta .
According to Agence France-Presse, signatories include Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei , OpenAI’s research director, DeepMind’s strategy leader, and MetaAI’s chief scientist. CNN adds that OpenAI’s chief scientist and one of the company’s original co-founders also signed, along with Anthropic co-founders and Google vice presidents.
The text calls for “the United States government to support an international effort to develop the technical and governance tools necessary to deliberately control the pace of the development frontier of automated AI,” according to an excerpt reproduced by AFP.
